Yesterday
was holiday. It was double holiday, i'd say. saturday It was and also
chakka jam( due to strike of the vehicle owners). it's been a norm in
nepal to observe this kind of nepal bandh quite frequently in this
recent years.
Taking
break from the usual mundane routine, i made up my mind to do something
else this weekend. it came out to do mountain biking. yes mountain
biking. i had a brother(friend's brother) to accompany me. we set up for
the cycling at 12 00 pm noon. we walked to thamel from sinamangal. it
was around 200 pm when we reached thamel. we hired two mountain bike for
6hrs for rs 200 each. we had already planned to go to kakani hill
station. but starting off at 2:30 pm was a late start. birendra wasn't
so trained with the cycle, so he had initial problem until we fared
cross the ring road of balaju. then it went well
The
uphill course then we hiked. i have previously not used such
sophisticated and light cycle. the cycle was so light , the brakes were
amazingly good, and on top of that the gear system it had was awesome.
we hiked round 3hrs uphill. the terrain was beautiful. the stretching
valley and the upcoming hills was enthralling. there was greeny shade
all over the terrain till we get to tinpiple. then after a short pause
for breakfast , we climbed up again. this time much tedious and
exhausting. after reaching thulo khola ,we planned to return. this is
because the clouds looming over us was about to pour down. it was a
pleasant day i suppose. for it wasn't hot and cool air passing us by our
side everymoment didn't allow us to exhaust us rapidly.then it was a
downhill course. it was an exalatation i felt. no local buses on the
road, only few motorbikes, so almost clear road, the beautiful terrain,
paddy fields by the right side and maize fields on the left side , lush
green allover the sight, excellent braking system of the bike, i felt no
fear, racing downhill with brake loose. i kind of felt like that' s
shown in t.v.
In
1 and half hour we came back to the thamel. the same old city, where
people never stops pouring, where people never stop working, where
there's always chaos and restlessness.
The time i took and the planned i made for yesterday, was one of the exciting one in this 6 yrs stay in kathmandu.
I
fear this could become a passion. not just for me, but for any young
enthusiast. young athlete who wants to embrace the nature raw. it could
be a time to recharge the batteries of our life worn out by the humdrum
and busy ness of this city.
So
all i suggest is , go out there and feel the excitement, just don't
plan do it. all it takes is a concrete move above the plan.
